Job Description

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a growing physician-led PM&R service providing consultative care to patients in an acute inpatient rehabilitation setting. This 1099 contract opportunity can be structured as full-time or part-time and offers a highly flexible rounding schedule, production-based compensation, physician training, and growth opportunities.

As a rounding provider you will support patients throughout their rehabilitation stay, with particular emphasis on pain, bowel, and bladder management and on addressing clinical issues that could interfere with functional recovery. This job is a consultant role, with a medicine team as the primary, allowing the PM&R provider to focus on rehabilitation-related medical management while collaborating with the hospital medicine team. The current primary need is approximately 20 patients per rounding day, with coverage focused on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Key Responsibilities

- Round on acute inpatient rehabilitation patients.

- Evaluate and manage pain, bowel, and bladder concerns within the PM&R service.

- Prescribe medications, including pain medications when clinically appropriate.

- Recognize and communicate medical issues that may interfere with rehabilitation progress.

- Collaborate with the physician and hospital medicine team to support functional recovery.

- Complete timely clinical documentation in Cerner.

- Participate in additional weekend coverage if mutually agreed upon.

- Follow the supervising physician's clinical approach and established workflow.

Qualifications

- Licensed in South Carolina as an NP or PA.

- DEA registration appropriate for prescribing responsibilities.

- Comfortable evaluating and treating pain, bowel, and bladder management.

- PM&R, inpatient rehab, post-acute, SNF, pain management, neurology, or related experience is preferred but not required.

- Coachable and willing to learn a physician-led, person-centered approach to pain and rehabilitation care.

- Dependable, flexible, and comfortable with weekend coverage.

- Cerner EHR experience is helpful but not required.

Compensation and Benefits

- Production-based 1099 compensation with earning potential upwards of $100 per hour based on workflow efficiency; this is not a guaranteed hourly base rate.

- CDS reimbursement/coverage.

Schedule

- Full-time or part-time options available.

- Available coverage needs: Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.

- Approximately 20 patients per rounding day at current volume.

- Flexible daily hours based on rounding, team coordination, and documentation needs.
